On Friday and Monday, Moana shared their culture club activities. Culture club is where you and your buddy (optional) had to dress up as your country and bring a national dish. I did Belgium because I thought it would be extremely cool to do. I brought in Belgium biscuits and everyone else presented and brought delicious food also. My favourite was the salsa and chips just because it was yum. I had to do my presentation on Monday because there was not enough time on Friday. Anyways here is my presentation hope you enjoy and I will hopefully do one more before I leave this school...

Turanganui Kapa Haka Festival
Yesterday on November our school attended the Turanganui's schools festival. The little kids performed first, and they were pretty good. When they were walking off of the stage, we went and got ready. The front row boys and the Kaia (which I also am) had to wear nothing but pui pui's and black undies. The pui pui's were tight, but it was fine by us because if it fell off then we would be going out there with just our undies.
Before I knew it I was heading on stage. The stage was huge and there were more people who had arrived now. Charlie W and Teifi started our first song which is our school's own. We leaded through a few more songs, my favorite being Eminaka. After Eminaka our Kaia lead us through the girls to the front of the stage. We did our haka and it was good. Once we ended with the girls coming into the gaps of the boys, we sung our final song.
I think it was a great experience, and a nice way to end my last few weeks of Wainui Beach School.

Tessellations
In Moana, stage 6 and stage 7's maths strand focus is tessellations. Tessellations are shapes that can fit leaving no gaps and no overlapping. Tessellations are all around us.
There was this man who found out hundreds of ways to make different and his name was Mc Escher. Mc Escher was born in 1898 in Leeuwarden, Holland. By distorting different shapes he transformed them into animals. We were given the instructions to choose from a shape up the top. There was a T shape, a C shape an X shape and a plus shape. Once we had chosen our shape we had to find a way to fit them together by rotating them or sliding them or flipping them. When we have made enough progress with our one shape we can move on to two or three shapes.
Tessellations are fun to do and really are a great brain strainer. Maybe you could make a tessellation of your own! Anyways see you in the next blog post.

Actions Speak Louder Than Words
On Tuesday, our school did a clean up in our Wainui community. First our class started by heading down to the beach with our buddy class. We ruled out a 100x100 meter square. We then tried to find as much rubbish as we could in that boundary. In the end we had HEAPS of rubbish, plastic, fabric and even honeycombs!
Near the end of our Actions day we all had a play on the beach, then walked along the beach all the way to school again. When we got back to school we all gathered in the school hall and watched a slide show, showing what we had accomplished that day.

Starting Storybird
In moana we started up a little thing called storybird. In case you don't know what story bird is it is a digital platform that you can create your own writing based on a picture. Your teacher can sign you up for assignments such as the one I did called 'the chase' where you could write your own story about you chasing something or it chasing you. Here is a storybird I did on the chase.
There are some stories where they let you have some words more than once. You can make sad, epic, scary, funny and awesome stories to wow everyone. I really think everyone should start using it. It is awesome.

My Maths Diplomas and medals
Earlier this week I got my big and little diploma. They aren't real diplomas they are just digital game times table diplomas off a site called https://www.timestables.co.nz . It's free to sign up of an account and it's really helpful because now I know my seven times tables, not off by heart but im close to that. The little diploma is the one on the top and the big diploma is the one on the bottom. On the times tables game you can earn certain times tables diplomas like your seven times table diplomas, as well as medals.
On the right there are my medals and my diplomas for separate times tables. You can earn your medals by doing individual tasks like answering them in a row in order then answering them all mixed up.
Well that's it for me in this blog post. See ya next time!
My Matariki Retell
This is my matariki retell. We did this for our reading activities on week 7. I worked very hard on this and I am very proud of the outcome. Basically I tell you about all the stars of matariki and what they do and represent. After that, I tell you a myth on how they came to life and more. Well I hope you enjoy it and I will see you in the next blog post!
